This fundraiser event is for energizing the homes of 80 family beneficiaries in Lubi, Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City, who have no access to electricity and power utility grids even when they live at the center of a sprawling metropolis.
As we are committed to clean, renewable and sustainable energy, the chosen family beneficiaries, all with toddlers and schoolchildren, will receive complete solar power systems that will enable them to not just brighten up their nights, but also allow them to plug in electronic gadgets and other electric appliances.
The Smash for Light tournament logo, jersey shirt and medals are collaboratively designed by Cebu artists Cien Oderc (https://www.facebook.com/CienTattoo) and Kristoff Peralta.
Playing your best is helping our beneficiaries the best way you can!
All of your time, effort, and donations have made huge impacts! Look out for our next fundraiser!
JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel is an organization of young leaders in Cebu, Philippines, who want to create a positive change in the world. We, the members of the JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel, are working together to continue improving the world by contributing to society, encouraging harmony, and nurturing the younger generation.
This year, one of our main initiatives is Solar Brings the Smile, which aims to provide sustainable electric energy to 80 underprivileged communities in Sitio Toril, Purok Lubi, Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City. We initially provided complete solar panel solutions to ten homes, and we still have 70 families to reach our goal.
One of the ways we find to raise funds for the Solar Brings the Smile project is a sports event for badminton athletes, players, and enthusiasts. To help us put a complete solar power grid for the homes of our family beneficiaries, and ultimately give them and their children access to light and electrical/electronic appliances, especially in the time of the pandemic where classes are mostly done at home with the use of learning modules, we need the support of individuals like you to raise funds for this project.
We would love to hear from you, or meet you in person. Send us a message on our Facebook Page and we will be glad to assist.
